May Din: Ma Hat On.

I don’t really want May to end.  It’s been a good month.  But end it must.  Please read the following words, and take a long sleep until June starts.  You’ll feel all the better for it.

In my last blog I told you about a new series of releases on Fence – which are gonna be in the postcard format.  True to my word, the Wait Until EP postcard was released at the start o’ the month, featuring 8 different versions of the song.  The original version is on my album Secret Soundz Vol.2, ken?  You can buy the Wait Until EP postcard at my gigs for £1, or order it from the Fence website for £1.50, and have it posted to you.  It’s also available in a bunch of shops.

Here’s a video of one of the versions – it’s a live take, recorded here in my caravan, filmed by my pals The Forest Of Black:

I’ve been meaning to stream a new version of the song each week, but i’ve been busy, okay.  Busy as a busy sausage.  So far, though, i’ve streamed the radio edit, and the live version – and i’m currently streaming a remix of the song by Seamus Fogarty.   It’s an INTENSE industrial electronic workout that transports you to the afterlife.

You can listen to Seamus Fogarty’s remix here:

There’s so much good stuff happening at the moment.  Behold!  My list of good things …

MY LIST OF GOOD THINGS by the pictish trail

GLASTONBURY - I’m playing Glastonbury!  On the Park Stage at 12noon, on Sunday 30th June – with my ol’ pal Rozi Plain on just before.  I can’t ruddy believe it.

BECK ‘SONG READER: LIVE’ GIG ★ – Oh my chuffing aunt.  Getting to play a show with one of my all-time heroes, Beck.  YES, BECK.  The real one.  With the lovely hair.  Yes, him.  At the Barbican in London, on 4th July.  It’s all a bit surreal.  I’m gonna be performing songs from his ‘Song Reader’ music book, alongside James Yorkston, Ed Hardcourt, Franz Ferdinand, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Beth Orton, Jarvis Cocker … and BECK.  Flippin’ eck.

MARC RILEY RADIO SESH - I’m on the radio!  Live!  And nude!  With my full band, next Wednesday (5th June).  Tune in from 7pm.

GREEN MAN FESTIVAL ★- Returning to the greatest festival on the PLANET, for a Fence Records showcase on the Friday night (16th Aug).  Are you coming?  The line-up is the best i’ve seen yet.  Oh yesh.

FENCE SHOWCASE AT WEST END FESTIVAL - An insane amount of Fence talent, assembled in their best sunday dress, on 9th June at the Oran Mor in Glasgow.  I’ll be bringing my band, and there’ll be other performances from Monoganon, eagleowl, Kid Canaveral, Randolph’s Leap, DJ Dream Caravan and Pip Dylan.

MONOMANIA by DEERHUNTER ★ – very much enjoying this album.  Playing it at extremely loud volumes will enhance your life.

WASTED TEENS by MONOGANON ★- our next Fence postcard is by our latest signing, and it’s a trippy pop gem.  I can’t wait for you all to hear the album.

DAVID BOWIE – 5 YEARS DOCUMENTARY ★ – Did anyone else watch this?  I want to be Bowie.  I’d be happy being a fat Bowie.  Was there ever a fat Bowie?  I’ll be a fat Bowie.

HAVING A HOLIDAY ★ – i just went on a holiday, and now i am addicted to going on holidays.  Here’s a holiday snap of me checking out the local oddly shaped talent.

My next headline shows are in Wakefield on June 7th (Long Division festival), Bexhill on Sea on July 6th (solo acoustic),  Edinburgh on August 24th, and London on October 6th.

It’s a glorious sunny day here, on Eigg – so i’ll leave you with this sunny little number.  It’s a cover of ‘Yellow Fly’ by the legendary Ivor Cutler, and it was filmed whilst i was on tour with Yorkston & Seamus.
